The book elucidates the pioneering role played by Muslim scholars in the specialist field of ophthalmology. The book holds many topics on the subjects of sight, diagnosis, description and treatment of many eye diseases and disorders. The book also presents anatomical diagrams for dissecting the eye, the retinal nerve and the brain. An appendix with lists of medicines and formulae is also presented. The book, authored by Ibn al-Qaysī, was based on 73 books and 41 pieces of work.
