Notes & Comments | Counter mark : trefoil with letters AZ (fol. 161)؛ The present manuscript gives the title as: انباه الاذكياء لحيوة الانبياء The work deals with the question of whether the Prophets, and especially the Prophet Muḥammad, are alive in their graves. fol. Ir contains a list of works by al- Suyūṭī included in this collection. The handwriting being identical to that of OR. 666 (no. 178). European paper. Catchwords. On fols. 175v-176r is an interesting text about al-Kashfī’s visit to Damascus in Ramaḍān 1120/November-December 1708. Beginning: الحمد لله الذي وصل المنقطعين الى جنابه... وبعد فانّ شرف علم الحديث في القديم والحديث امرمشهورعند الجمهورلا سيما روايته بالاسناد... وفي رمضان المعظم سنة ١١٢٠ من الهجرة المحمدية ورد الى دمشق الشام... الشيخ احمد بن ابي بكر بن محمـد بن رضوان الصمقوى (كذا) من اعلام بلد صوفية من بلاد الروم... This text was copied by ‘Abd al-Ghanī al-shahīr bi-Ibn al-Nābulusī al-Shāmī al-Dimashqī (1050/1143-1643/1731: compare al-Ziriklī IV, 158), al-Mudarris bi-al-Madrasah al-SaIīmīyah, at Ṣāliḥiyyah in Damascus. This man is a distinguished author and commentator on Islamic doctrine and especially Sufism. The codex also includes excerpts from works by him. According to the text al-Shaykh Aḥmad b. Abī Bakr visited his home, situated south (qiblī ) of the Umayyad Mosque (al-Jāmi’ al-Sharīf al-Umawī). | |
