Description of Collection: | This collection is kept in ordinary cupboards. It is uncatalogued. The MSS are kept together with more than 500 lithographed works, which are catalogued in 2 volumes. Most of the MSS are written in a Maghribi script, and date from the 11th and 12th centuries AH. The Centre intends to begin cataloguing these MSS soon. The following 5 texts are representative of the whole collection:- (i) Bughyat al-tullab fi sharḥ munyat al-ḥisab. By Abu ʿAbd Allah Sayyid Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿAli, copied 852 AH, on arithmetic. (ii) Al-Iktifaʾ (part 3). By Al-Kilaʿi, 427ff., copied 1098 AH, on Islamic history. (iii) Al-Anwar al-ṣatiʿa (al-lamiʿa) fi sharḥ al-jamiʿa. By Ibn Ḥamdun, copied 1183 AH, on arithmetic. (iv) Al-Miʿyar.(Parts 2–4). By Abu 'l-Abbas Aḥmad ibn Yaḥya ibn Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Waḥid, copied 1132–1133 AH, on fiqh (muʿamalat). (v) Sharḥ al-lamʿa fi ḥall al-kawakib al-sayyara al-sabʿa. By Muḥammad ibn Muṣṭafa 'l-Khuḍari al-Shafiʿi. 102 ff. There is also an extensive collection of microfilms of Arabic MSS in various libraries in the world. |
